Investigation of flood depth-damage functions

Application of Depth damage curve (DDC) is the most typical and widely accepted method for assessing building damage due to flooding. DDC can determine direct flood damage using inundation depth, which indicates the flood damage that would occur at specific water depth per type of land use class. De...

DDC can determine direct flood damage using inundation depth, which indicates the flood damage that would occur at specific water depth per type of land use class. Depth damage curves (DDC) thus expresses the vulnerability of the exposure to flood and provide for loss estimation of a building’s structural and contents directly given a water depth. In this project, adjusted depth–damage curves are investigated based on DDCs reproduced from Joint Research Center (JRC- EU), specifically for the Jakarta region. The study areas of Jakarta are further divided into five regions namely Jakarta Timur, Jakarta Seletan , Jakarta Barat , Jakarta Pusat and Jakarta Utara.
