Summary: | The Nanyang Venture 12 (NV12) is a car built by undergraduate students under the
supervision of Professor Ng Heong Wah. The car was purposefully built for Shell Eco
Marathon (SEM) competition, and the main objective of the SEM competition is to
provide students a platform to create world-class efficient vehicles. NV12 is a four-wheeled, single seat (driver only), hydrogen fuel cell powered car.
There are two main foci for this report. The first is on the design of the
canopy/windscreen wiper. The second is the access covers, also referred to as front
and rear bonnets.
The main challenge and objective of the canopy wiper was to get a wide wiping area
coverage for the canopy, which had very high curvature all around.
The main objective of the front and rear bonnets was to provide maximum opening
space for work to be carried out on the car, such as the hydraulic, steering, suspension
systems under the front bonnet and hydrogen and electrical components under the rear
bonnet.
The report concludes with future recommendations from the lessons learnt from the
design of the aforementioned components. |
