Summary: | At this time, the world and Singapore are engaged in the fight against a variety of serious crimes and threats. Human security and well-being have received a great deal of attention as a result of constant pressure from various governments and politicians. For those who are closer to home, Singapore has made a concerted effort to recruit more people into the island defense force who are interested in pursuing policing as a professional path. Because of a lack of staff and resources, the police department is finding it more difficult to keep up with the demand for their services from the general population. It is the goal of this project to investigate the feasibility of developing a service robot to assist with patrolling and maintaining security. This final year project will serve as a springboard for further exploration of the countless possibilities offered by robots and automation. It is at this point that I would want to express my gratitude to my supervisor, Professor Xie Ming, for his support and guidance throughout my study. He has provided me with useful inputs that would assist me in calibrating my project. |
