In this report, a finalized design of MR drum rotary brake which consists of 3 main sub-assemblies of external housing comprising of inner housing, rotor, coil holder, bearings and radial shaft seals can therefore ensure to achieve at least 5Nm of torque in the presence of magnetic field. The dimensions of these components were determined with the support of Maxwell software programme that simulated the design of MR drum rotary brake under the influence of current. Through detailed calculation and selection of these components, the overall design aims to achieve the design requirements of maintaining the gap of 5mm and 0.5mm at the inner structure of the design and in additional, the ease of assembly and maintenance. This report involved the designing of Magneto-Rheological (MR) Drum Rotary Brake. Through research papers, there are two types of magneto-rheological rotary brake designs- disc and drum. In this report, a finalized design of MR drum rotary brake which consists of 3 main sub-assemblies of external housing comprising of inner housing, rotor, coil holder, bearings and radial shaft seals can therefore ensure to achieve at least 5Nm of torque in the presence of magnetic field.
