Through the use of Pierre Bourdieu’s theory “The Forms of Capitals”, this research seeks to explain how possessing low cultural and social capital has resulted in the low societal standing of lion dance, resulting in a lack of support and attention from the Singapore government and its people. This is followed by examining how the transposition of the forms of capitals can allow Lion Dance to have its cultural and social capital converted into one another or economic capital, in order to increase the popularity of Lion Dance and elevate its societal standing, eventually giving rise to the breakthrough of Lion Dance’s current perimeters.
