Summary: | Discussing Disability is a communications campaign that aims to spark conversations on the topic of disability among tertiary students aged between 18 to 30 in Singapore. Based on the Enabling Masterplan 2030 (EMP2030), Singapore aims to be a more inclusive society by 2030. Despite the general improvement in the public’s willingness to be more inclusive towards people with disabilities, there are still existing gaps towards inclusivity in society. In Discussing Disability, we seek to emphasise the social and structural barriers that Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) face in their daily lives. Using the Social model of disability as a framework to guide our campaign, we aim to increase awareness about the social and structural barriers faced by PwDs in our society, whilst increasing tertiary students’ intention levels to be more socially inclusive. As we challenge tertiary students to think critically and face their implicit prejudices, we hope to provide a safe platform to kickstart conversations. Discussing Disability hopes to garner more attention, interest and support from individuals who can eventually enact tangible structural changes in society and in turn foster a truly inclusive society for PwDs. |
