Summary: | All tenants at Golden Mile Complex will be required to vacate the building by May 2023 following a successful en bloc sale last year.
Since opening in 1973, the Complex has grown into a hub for all things Thai. Thais come here to feel at home, and on the weekends, Thai workers use it as a gathering point to socialise. The numerous Thai barbeque outlets in the area are also popular with locals who enjoy buying Thai produce and eating Thai food.
While the building will be preserved for its iconic brutalist architecture, the closure of Golden Mile Complex marks the end of an era for Singapore’s only Thai enclave - a precious communal treasure that has existed for half a century. This project documents the months leading up to its closure, allowing people to remember the Complex as it once was.
