Description
Summary:Finding a life partner is one of the most pertinent objectives in the human experience. In this paper, I propose that besides humans, we should also consider AI robot as potential lifelong companions. By reviewing existing AI technology, we can see how the groundwork for human-AI companionship has already been laid out. Then, I will explore the concept of companionship itself and extract the necessary conditions for a companionship to be established. With these conditions, I will evaluate the suitability of AI robots to be our romantic partners. I will also discuss some objections and potential issues that may arise from human-AI companionship. By the end of this paper, I will prove that it is possible to have AI robots as legitimate companions. And with the exponential growth of technology, it would not be long before we reach a reality in which we can have AI as companions.
