Providing care for individuals with dementia can be challenging, and healthcare providers require effective tools to manage their care. Person-centred care is a holistic approach to dementia care that considers the individual, caregivers, and family. Studies have found that this approach can improve quality of life and alleviate symptoms such as agitation, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and depression. The Person-Centred Care (PEAR) system aims to improve the quality of care provided to individuals with dementia. It is a centralized care centre management system that focuses on the needs of the individual and adopts a person-centred care approach. As a front-end developer, the objective of this project was to enhance the functionality of the PEAR system using React Native Expo, by implementing a patient adding process to successfully add a patient into the system with data validation. The validation process involved checking the patient's basic information, the guardian's information, as well as the patient’s allergy information, for completeness, consistency, and accuracy. By validating the patient's details, the system ensures that only reliable and accurate information is stored in the system, which can be used to provide personalized care to individuals with dementia in the future. This project demonstrates the importance of implementing validation processes in the PEAR system, to ensure high-quality care for individuals with dementia, and the validation process was effective in ensuring that only valid and accurate patient information was added to the PEAR system, and reduces the number of errors in the system. In conclusion, by adding a patient validation process to the PEAR system, the system can ensure that only accurate and reliable information is stored, improving the quality of care provided in the future.
