Many techniques and innovations have been tested to achieve realistic representation of vessel behaviour and navigation. This project aims to employ maritime simulation to develop a maritime traffic simulator to study how vessels can navigate the upcoming Tuas Mega Port effectively. The simulator will feature realistic representation and modelling of vessel maneuvering, where modelling of realistic turning abilities and vessel speed adjustments are key areas of focus. Navigational behaviours and collision avoidance amongst vessel traffic will be modelled in accordance with international regulations. By focusing on these main areas, the simulator is meant to be an improvement over past versions that typically do not simulate vessel movements, especially turning and speed adjustments as accurately. Improving the realism of the vessels also improves the results from studies and analysis that can be conducted after. Analysis on the capacity and navigational efficiency within Tuas Mega Port waters under different traffic loads and simulated durations will be conducted, then, identifying areas of improvement or possible adjustments to be made to enhance efficiency and performance.
