Description
Summary:Illnesses such as motor neuron diseases cause difficulties and often the inability to move one's hands and fingers. People with such impairments cannot use complex peripherals and devices such as keyboards and mice to type. Given that typing is an action that is part and parcel of many of our daily activities, one can imagine the challenges and frustration this group of people face when it comes to typing. The goal of this project is to develop an eye typing system, using various machine learning solutions and techniques, that can improve the quality of life of such people. Additionally, a novel keyboard featuring larger-than-normal keys will be developed and user studies will be conducted to compare it against the traditional QWERTY keyboard. The evaluation metrics for comparison will be users' average typing speed, average typing accuracy and overall user satisfaction.
