The findings reveal that while mycelium may not be able to fully replace conventional construction materials in the current market in terms of mechanical properties, it exhibits promising functional properties such as thermal insulation and acoustics insulation that are on par. This suggests that mycelium could be a viable alternative in specific applications, particularly those that prioritize non-mechanical properties. At the same time, this study highlights the potential of mycelium as an environmentally friendly building material, which can be the answer to green initiatives for sustainable construction.
