Renewable energy resources for household applications

With increasing demand for renewable energy sources, households systems will be a good area to research on in the saturated commercial market. Efficiency of electricity generating is a concern here and will be optimized by SCADA system. A program is written in Visual C++ to control the power flow wi...

Efficiency of electricity generating is a concern here and will be optimized by SCADA system. A program is written in Visual C++ to control the power flow within the system. As batteries are used as electricity storage, power converters are needed throughout the project. Square wave DC to AC inverters will be replaced by pure Sine Wave inverters that make use of Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation Technique. Together with suitable filters, the inverters can produce sine wave with little harmonics. The inability of transformer to step up low voltages to the required amount has also triggered the need to implement a DC to DC Boost Converter. In order to maintain the AC output voltage at the inverter, a feedback system was also built to adjust the Boost converter accordingly. All the components built were finally integrated into the renewable energy system.
