Description
Summary:Stitching is referred to as the textile process of creating or joining fabrics and is often considered an independent handcraft skill taken up as a hobby or for practical reasons. The internet has made learning readily available, and one can easily master the art of various stitching techniques online. Even though stitching has proven to have provided positive emotional fulfillment on both an individual and community level, there is a lack of space for stitching enthusiasts to interact on the community level. To solve this issue, a digital platform is required for it can bring together people of similar interests from anywhere, anytime. Hence, a cross-platform mobile application is chosen to be developed. It aims to not only serve as a means to access relevant information about stitching independently, but also encourage online interaction of stitching works among users. Key functionalities should include the ability to post photos and details of stitching projects, save posts for own reference and self-learning, and a filter system that speeds up the search for posts by the desired stitching type. The report discusses the research done on stitching and the technical aspects of the project, which involves explanations of the full stack architecture adopted, the database integrated, functionality testing, screen implementations and challenges faced. The application is created using the MERN stack, which consists of React Native as the frontend framework, NodeJS as the backend framework, MongoDB as the database and Express to handle API requests. Overall, the author hopes that the application built will provide a platform for stitching enthusiasts to learn and interact from one another, and form a lasting, meaningful stitching community.
