To conduct a quantitative comparative investigation, different designs of each type of machine are selected from the literature for finite element analysis. The performance of these machines, including torque/thrust density, permanent magnet utilization, power factor, and efficiency, are compared and analyzed under the same conditions. Based on the comparative results, the suitable application fields and future research directions for different types of machines are determined.
