In recent years, visible light positioning (VLP) has emerged as a promising technology for accurate and low-cost camera localization. Unlike traditional methods that rely on Global Positioning System (GPS) or inertial sensors, visible light positioning utilizes visible light signals emitted from light sources to estimate the camera’s information such as pose, position and orientation. This study presents an exhaustive review of camera localization under visible light positioning, including the underlying principles, state-of-the-art techniques, and evaluation metrics. We also discuss the challenges and future research directions in this area, such as robustness to ambient lighting conditions and scalability to large-scale environments. The overall goal of this study is to motivate additional research into this exciting field by providing a systematic overview of the current state of the art in camera localization under visible light positioning.
