The study is aligned with Singapore's Smart Nation initiative, which leverages on technology to improve the lives of its citizens. The findings of this research project could contribute to modern urban management and address issues such as traffic congestion caused by illegal parking. The study utilizes machine learning algorithms and hardware trials to analyze data collected from three types of vehicles in various parking lots. The study's results demonstrate the impressive capabilities of the algorithm, which achieved an outstanding 98% accuracy in detecting vehicle locations within a timeslot of just one minute. The accuracy of the detection was verified using ground truth taken from Global Positioning System (GPS). The insights gained from the trial results can be used for further implementation such as automation of vehicle charging and providing exact locations for autonomous vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) used for logistics delivery.
