Summary: | The energy shortage throughout the world makes people pay more attention to the exploration of new resources of energy. Solar energy is considered as the greatest potential new energy. Nowadays solar energy utilization receives high attention in rural area because of its pollution-free, easy maintenance. This report will introduce a Stand-alone DC distributed power generation system, which is a microgrid system considering solar energy.
The Stand-alone DC distributed power generation system consists of DC-DC converter, PV module, load and battery. The PV module will generate power to supply the load during sunny days, the leftover power will restored in battery to supply the load during cloudy or rainy days. In order to make better use of PV power, a Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) is necessary to ensure maximum power utilization of the photovoltaic (PV) modules. The DC-DC Buck converter can deliver energy from PV arrays into the load by reducing the voltage. It is also a n important part of MPPT control.
The design will be simulated by MATLAB, and an analysis of the results follows. This design should give a suitable capability of the battery which can meet the need of the users with considerations of cost. In other words, the minimum capability of the battery must be obtained after testing. |
