Description
Summary:The project aims to develop a high-performance linear generator system (LGS) for converting wave energy into electricity. In the background of the global promotion of clean energy, wave energy conversion (WEC) has become a hot research topic due to its huge reserves worldwide. According to the direct motion character of both ocean wave and offshore tide, which are the main forms of wave energy, linear generator can be great potential for the energy conversion compared the rotary machine. Consequently, a high-performance LGS for WEC is required. One of the keys to develop a such LGS lies in designing a linear machine with high power/thrust density. Meanwhile, this kind of linear machine should offer a robust and anti- corruption structure, as well as maintenance-free operation. This project allows student to develop a high-performance linear generator from design, analysis, simulation and evaluation. Exceptional design can be made as experimental prototype for concept verification.
