However, implementing an efficient MPC system can be challenging due to the complexity of the manufacturing environment and the different data sources involved. A well-designed MPC system helps coordinate the company's supply chain and facilitates informed decision-making throughout the entire chain, which minimises inefficiencies and speeds up response times. Unfortunately, many of the existing MPC tools are expensive, with some costing as much as USD$12,000 per user per year. This cost can be a significant barrier for smaller companies. To address this issue, a cloud-based application has been developed to perform Demand Forecasting, Master Production Scheduling, and Material Requirements Planning on data from the database. This tool has been modelled on the operational requirements of a real manufacturing company, Zurn Wilkins, which produces water control products for plumbing, and in specific their item with code 34-720. The tool not only serves as an effective resource planning solution for small and medium-sized enterprises but also has the potential to be used as an educational tool for students studying MPC functions. By providing a cost-effective alternative to existing MPC tools, this new tool can help companies improve their production efficiency and enhance their competitiveness in the market. Effective management and improved production efficiency are essential for companies, and Manufacturing Planning and Control (MPC) plays a critical role in achieving these goals.
