Description
Summary:Permanent Magnet Linear Motor has been gaining popularity over the conventional elevator system. In this report, different potential topologies will be discussed and compared. The design considerations will be discussed. Factors such as constraints and performance will be shared. Subsequently, topologies will be determined such as the slot-pole combination. Similarly, the design process will be presented in this report using the simulation software, JMAG-Designer. In this section, the design decisions, challenges and observations will be made. Eventually, attempts will be made to adjust the model to improve the performance of the PMLSM. Analysis will be made based on the calculated outputs and an optimised final model will be made from the previous designs. Lastly, a few ideas are shared for potential future works to this project.
