They play a crucial role in many electronic applications, especially those that require a stable power supply. This project focuses on the design and analysis of two main types of DC-to-DC voltage regulation, mainly linear and switching voltage regulators. The design part of voltage regulators involves the selection and calculation of appropriate components, such as diodes, transistors, and capacitors, to ensure stability and accuracy of voltage regulation. The analysis part involves simulation and testing of the voltage regulator circuit, using computer-aided tools and laboratory equipment such as Multisim, oscilloscope, and multimeter, to evaluate its performance characteristics, such as efficiency, output voltage accuracy, and line and load regulation. The performance of the voltage regulators will be evaluated using simulation tools and the results will be compared with theoretical calculation. The final phase of this project involves circuit integration onto a printed circuit board (PCB) as the final prototype. This integration process includes the PCB circuit board design, assembly of PCB board and output measurement which allows for a thorough analysis of the performance of the voltage regulators. In conclusion, this project provides a comprehensive understanding of diverse types of voltage regulators and their design principles. The results of the design and analysis will provide insights into the effectiveness of the voltage regulator circuits and suggest improvements for future designs.
