Summary: | This report focuses on the design and implementation of a smart power meter. A smart power meter allows users to track their power consumption remotely and enables utility companies to track power consumption online thus saving manpower. It is also more accurate and efficient.
The smart power meter is built using an Arduino UNO, which is equipped with an ATmega328P microcontroller, a voltage sensor to sense incoming voltage, a current sensor to sense current running through and an LCD display to display parameters mentioned. Making it a smart power meter is where Internet of Things (IoT) comes into play. An IoT platform called Blynk will be used in the project to display voltage, current, power, kWh, power factor and reactive power onto a dashboard and onto an application in our phones.
This entire process of hardware and software chosen, decisions made, challenges faced and troubleshooting will be explained in further detail in this report. |
