Description
Summary:This report sheds light on the challenges of integrating solar energy into Singapore's power infrastructure and provides insights into how this can be achieved with DC distribution networks. There are potential impacts on the DC distribution networks by incorporating solar energy and DC loads such as electric vehicles (EVs). Grid’s operating frequency deviation may be improved, and the mechanical power required for electricity generation can be reduced. Furthermore, the use of DC loads can increase the overall efficiency of Singapore's power system while reducing its carbon impact. This report also explores modeling methods and frequency control techniques to maintain grid stability in real-world implementations involving load demand and conventional synchronous machines. This will reflect the potential increase in demand from the growing EV population and EV chargers. Additionally, the report considers the use of inverter-based resources.
