Investigating the correlation between game theory and the thirty-six stratagems

Game theory and the Thirty-Six Stratagems are two very different frameworks for understanding strategic decision-making. Game theory relies on a more mathematical approach whereas the thirty-six stratagems stem from a historical collection of military tactics and strategies. This report aims to inve...

Game theory relies on a more mathematical approach whereas the thirty-six stratagems stem from a historical collection of military tactics and strategies. This report aims to investigate the correlation between both fields through the use of case studies and features unique to game theory. While both can provide valuable insights into how individuals and groups make decisions, they have their limitations. Game theory assumes that individuals make decisions based solely on rationality, while the Thirty-Six Stratagems were developed primarily for military use and may not be applicable to other contexts. Future research could investigate how these frameworks can be adapted for use in different cultural and social contexts, or how they can be integrated with other frameworks to provide a more complete understanding of strategic decision-making.
