Description
Summary:In medicine, a prosthesis is defined as an artificial replacement of a part of a body, which may be lost through trauma, disease, or a condition. (Davis, 2021) Reconditioning Human: Alternative Functionality in Prosthetic Augmentation is a project that aims to revisit the concept of prosthesis and towards the possibilities of human augmentation. Rather than working with what our existing anatomy should comprise of, what else could we further add on? Prosthesis can be used to enhance human performance and functionality, and potentially cover our weak spots. Instead of bringing us back to the ‘human’ standard, I intend to explore design and technology to bring us beyond what we deem ordinary.
