The capstone project focuses on the complex and nuanced process of scientific translation, examining the strategies employed to ensure accuracy and accessibility of scientific texts. Specifically, the project has produced the English-Chinese translation of some parts of 30-Second Forensic Science, a scientific text, followed by a case study on the translation of technical terms and relevant techniques. Through careful analysis of the translation process, the project demonstrates that a successful scientific translation requires a combination of literal and adaptive translation techniques to convey meaning effectively while making the text more accessible to a broader audience. The case study highlights the importance of considering the target audience and balancing accuracy with readability in scientific translation. The findings of this project may provide valuable insights for translators and researchers in the field of scientific translation and can be used as a guide for future translations of similar texts, ultimately contributing to the development of more accurate and accessible scientific translations.
