Despite numerous efforts to reduce their number, road accidents continue to be a significant source of death and injury for people of all ages. During this time of rapid changes, the number of road construction projects is increasing steadily and one of the causes of accidents is road work zones, especially on two-way roads or steep curvature roads in hilly areas. This Final Year Project (FYP) aims to develop a system to direct traffic and vehicle speed to minimize the chances of accidents. The proposed system is intended to minimize the amount of traffic personnels working in the road construction zones. Using the assistance of this traffic control system on the road, the flow of traffic can be enhanced, and the safety of the citizens can be improved. Additionally, the design process involves analyzing the characteristics of different types of road work environments and identifying the challenges associated with it. In this report, it describes the contribution and conclusions to develop a reliable assistive traffic control system and the challenges associated with it.
