Summary:With the rapid advancement of technology, the capabilities of the mobile phone have stretched pass its intended communication capabilities. Image capturing, location tracking and even Internet accessing capabilities are no longer foreign to the once humble mobile phone. Combining the technologies from various systems, City Navigation (CityNav) provides users with a more user-friendly and easy way to navigate themselves around the unfamiliar concrete jungle with just a simple mobile phone which is equipped with camera functions. Being a navigation tool, CityNav requires a database which contains all the information that is required. Being a major component on the server, the database design is essential in the overall performance efficiency of CityNav. This report describes detailed work related to CityNav, from related works, background technologies, database design implementation and future works.
