NDT techniques are preferred over conventional testing methods as they can detect material defects without causing any damage. One of the most widely used NDT techniques is ultrasonic testing (UT). Ultrasonic testing is highly effective in inspecting metallic specimens. The method uses high-frequency sound waves to penetrate the material and identify any defects or interfaces. This fast, accurate, and non-destructive technique is perfect for testing different types of materials. To further explore the capabilities of ultrasonic testing and understand test readings, this project intends to inspect metallic specimens using ultrasonic testing equipment, mainly A-scan. The project will provide valuable insights into interpreting UT test readings, and the results obtained will be analyzed to determine the accuracy of the readings and the capabilities of the equipment. The findings from this project will allow further improvements for a more precise and effective ultrasonic testing procedure for metallic specimens.
