Summary: | This qualitative study examines the experiences of single female caregivers providing care to their elderly parents in Singapore. Using in-depth, face-to-face interviews with 8 participants, the study explores the challenges, coping strategies, and support systems available to this group of caregivers. The findings reveal that caregiving responsibilities affect various aspects of caregivers' lives, including their physical health, social life, and employment. However, respondents reported using various coping strategies to manage their caregiver burden, such as seeking social support with siblings and friends, and practicing self-care. The study contributes to existing literature by providing insights into the unique experiences of single female caregivers in a Singaporean context, and the implications for policy and practice to support this vulnerable population alongside other diverse subgroups mentioned. |
