Summary: | As Southeast Asia faces the energy challenge, environmental groups are key in facilitating discussions on energy use. However, limited research on the communication strategies of environmental groups in the region has hampered evaluation of the efficacy of extant communication efforts. We conducted online focus group discussions with 26 environmental groups in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore to examine their communication goals, use of communication channels, and the range of public engagement activities. Results indicated that the groups conducted dialogical public engagement activities and used digital media platforms frequently. We offer recommendations for environmental groups who wish to expand their scope of communication outreach. |
