This dissertation explores the probability of Singapore achieving this goal through investigating the difficulties and challenges the city-state and its filmmakers face in their journey to be the cine hub of Asia. The relative youth of the local industry and small size of the city-state act as drawbacks even before Singapore steps in to the international and regional cinematic scene. However, the filmmakers and the other stakeholders of the industry alike have identified the international film co-production as an attractive and viable solution to the above mentioned concerns. This dissertation is thus a timely investigation into the viability of international film co-production as a strategy to develop the local film industry. Master of Mass Communication 2008-09-10T08:35:20Z 2008-09-10T08:35:20Z 2005 2005 Thesis http://hdl.handle.net/10356/1687 Nanyang Technological University application/pdf
