This dissertation gives an introduction of all-optical switch and 2D materials, and then using one of the 2D materials, WS2, to make an all-optical switch. The simulation software FDTD Lumerical is used to build the model of WS2 all-optical switch and do the simulation. The simulation results show that this device can work as an all-optical switch and its performance can be improved by adjusting the geometric dimensions of the device.
