Exploring clean energy for sustainable development

Clean energy is the way to go for a sustainable future. This project aims to design and explore an alternative source of clean energy so that the pollution caused by fossil fuels can be reduced, and the problem of rising oil prices can be solved. After exploring the different types of renewable and...

This project aims to design and explore an alternative source of clean energy so that the pollution caused by fossil fuels can be reduced, and the problem of rising oil prices can be solved. After exploring the different types of renewable and clean alternative energy sources, the student decides to use hydropower to drive his improvised waterwheel system. The improvised waterwheel makes use of speed ratios through gears and pulleys instead of the current hydropower stations that use turbines to generate electricity that is already in their final stages of development. The student also explores methods to reduce the amount of force needed to drive his waterwheel system. The student tested his design and results show that electricity is generated, but to be able to mass generate electricity, improvisations would have to be made to the method and design of the system.
