Summary: | One of the many problems of 3D model creation is the lack of proper image input as well as the complexity in using professional 3D software to generate these models.
In this project, we used an existing method called Tour Into the Picture (TIP) which allows a user to easily create a 3D model scene based on a single image input. This report proposes a new algorithm in the TIP application to enhance the image rendering process which improves the efficiency and image quality of the 3D output. A new user interface is also created with the implantation of additional features to improve the user experience in using the new enhanced TIP application. The enhanced TIP program also features a unique integration of 3D TIP model reconstruction with stereoscopic 3D technique to bring more realism in the 3D images.
An analysis of the experimental results obtained from the new image rendering approach is performed and compared with the existing TIP program in view of the efficiency in generating the 3D outputs. Additional experiment is also carried out using various types of images to demonstrate the TIP capability to generated 3D models in different view angles together with the stereoscopic 3D effect. |
