Description
Summary:A tremendous number of users now use ‘Web Feeds’ (or RSS feeds) to get latest news, music and keep in touch. As RSS feeds flourish, it introduces serious problem of “RSS Bandwidth”, when the number of user becomes larger and larger, polls more and more frequently, the feed owners hosting feeds would be extreme because of limited bandwidth resources. Our Peer-to-Peer RSS Feed Dissemination System or P2PRFD replaces this polling architecture with an efficient and scalable application-level multicast architecture. P2PRFD users distribute the feeds collaborately, which significantly reduce feed publisher’s load at RSS feeds hosting server, while retain the rapid updating speed of the RSS feeds. In this report, we are going to explore the current problem that peer-to-peer system is facing, and share the experience on developing and testing of P2PRFD.
