Description
Summary:This project is to create the 3D visualization of the Singapore City Hall MRT station, and research on optimization in the 3D visualization process. With existing technologies, a bal- ance between quality and speed for any visualization process should be examined care- fully by conducting optimization experiments. Experiments in this project were carried out in these four stages: modeling, material and texture setup, lighting and rendering, anima- tion. In each stage, different visualization technologies and methods were examined, and the most effective and efficient combinations were chosen as the optimal approach for this project. From the experiment result, polygon modeling is very effective in visualizing the entire model structure, and the efficient use of texture maps is very useful to save ray trace shading and lighting calculation. The final optimization solution was concluded from the best combination of existing 3D visualization technologies and methods, and this visualiza- tion of the Singapore City Hall MRT station was proven to be very successful.
