Description
Summary:The aim of this project is to improve the throughput of a large-scale legacy system via a suitable scaling strategy. In this project, we had studied some of the real life architectures (Flick and Wikimedia) and identified what scaling techniques the real life architectures are using. We had also studied the legacy system and identified what the problems of the legacy system. To improve the throughput of the system, we had proposed five scaling strategies and the effectiveness of the five proposed strategies had been quantified and compared. The testing method that we had used for quantifying the effectiveness of the strategies is black-box testing and the type of black-box test that we used is load test. Based on the discussion of test results, we had recommended an appropriate scaling strategy for the legacy system in this report.
