description |
Organo-transitional metal compounds have been of particular interest for Organic
Light Emitting Diode (OLED) application in the last few decades due to
their high efficiencies. Due to a process called triplet harvesting, the efficiency can
be as high as 100%. It is very likely that within some years, large flat panels and
also small-size displays will be available.
In this work, we report on the characteristic behaviors of the famous triplet
emitter tris[2-(2-pyridinyl)phenyl-C,N]-iridium (Ir(ppy)3). OLED devices with the
Emitting Layer (EML) consisting of Ir(ppy)3 doped in 4,4’-N,N’-dicarbazole-biphenyl
(CBP) were fabricated, and the summary of the fabrication process will be discussed.
Application of pulsed electric field to the OLED device was realized using
pulse generator. The establishment of the innovative data acquisition setup
using the streak camera coupled with the monochromator makes possible to
obtain several information of the emission properties of the sample simultaneously.
In the end, the summary and future developments of this work will be
discussed.
