Summary: | This report introduces the reader to first generation solar cell manufacturing technology. The process flow and the screen printing technology are explained in the literature review. A cost model of a production line is developed to study the effects of equipment, material and labour on unit cost. The results in terms of unit cost, capacity and investment are then analysed. Concepts such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and energy-payback time (EPBT) are discussed and applied to cost model.
A brief study on the feasibility of solar power in Singapore is conducted. Relevant technologies such as net-metering and energy storage are also discussed. |
