Multicultural identity of Singapore Chinese: a case study of Singapore Chinese cultural centre

This can be seen from the various heritage centres in Singapore managed by the National Heritage Board. Following the opening of China Cultural Centre in Singapore in 2015, Singapore also started its very own Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre which aims to promote the uniqueness of the local Chinese culture. Whenever this Centre was mentioned, one thing that comes to mind would be identity, which more often than not, people would relate it to Chineseness. Hence, this paper aims to dive into the centre’s events, collaborators, and shared spaces, to find out the true ideology of the place and find out what exactly is the cultural identity of the Chinese in Singapore.
