In light of this, Chinese Americans, Chinese Americans, early pioneers among non-European ethnic groups in immigration history, constitute the largest segment within the Asian American community. The premiere of “American Born Chinese” in 2023 represents a significant milestone as the first mainstream drama series entirely produced by a Chinese American team. This development reflects a heightened and more diverse focus on the Chinese American community. Beyond its role in entertainment, the series serves as a platform for sparking discussions on Asian identity, fostering mutual exchange, and enhancing understanding within this community. In the globalized era, Chinese American teenagers find themselves not only grappling with the influence of American culture but also navigating the challenge of connecting with Chinese traditions. The difficulties they face and the strategies employed to navigate these challenges are compelling subjects that warrant thorough exploration. This essay aims to inspire discussions on the identity formation of Chinese American teenagers in the United States by conducting a comprehensive analysis of "American Born Chinese" and shedding light on the construction of a Chinese American hero.
