The central research question examines how various stakeholders have impacted housing development and the resulting environmental consequences arising from their competing interests. Key stakeholders in this narrative encompass government agencies, private developers and residents who have influenced Singapore's housing landscape. This exploration underscores the need for a balanced approach to housing development in Singapore, encapsulating core concepts such as harmonizing urbanization with the natural world, promoting transparent environmental assessments, and encouraging community participation. These themes resonate throughout the study and underline the importance of prioritizing environmental considerations in policymaking. The thesis acknowledges its limitations, notably the absence of perspectives from flora and fauna and marginalized groups, as well as the necessity of a fair and critical perspective in evaluating government housing policies. In summary, this research provides insights into Singapore's housing development and the significance of a balanced and holistic approach to achieving a sustainable urban environment.
