It explains the properties of semiconductor and how semiconductor actually works. Without having a clear picture of how semiconductor works, it could result in the misunderstanding of the working principle and application of semiconductor devices. The studying of Semiconductor Fundamental has always been a challenging subject. Even with comprehensive notes, students still find it hard to fully understand the concept. The theory behind semiconductor is abstract and not easy to understand. The band diagram, movement of electrons and holes are all conceptualize and not seen in everyday life hence the difficulty in understanding them. Many websites and schools such as University of Colorado, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering [1] and University of Texas at El Paso, Department of electrical and computer engineering [2], have their own version of animation to help in the explanation of semiconductor fundamental. However these website are from oversea source and usually created by the professor themselves with reference to their own sets of notes thus the explanation might be too profound for students to understand. Macromedia Flash 8 is a popular multimedia tool for creating animation. It is a common application supported by most browsers. It is a simple yet power tool which allow user to manipulate graphics, steam audio and video. Its frame by frame animation feature provides a convenient way for user without animation background to create simple animation. Theses feature allow animation to be easily created and circulate among student without the fear of compatibility issue. From this project, several animation have been created using macromedia flash 8 such as the generation and recombination of electrons with and without illumination, scatter effect of electrons with and without electric field. These animations are created as a teaching aid for the better understanding of semiconductor fundamental in students.
