Summary: | There are many different types of sources of energy in the world which include coal, biomass, solar, hydro, wind, oil, natural gas and nuclear. However, as the world gets increasingly advanced in technology, major considerations in energy planning will include renewable sources and pollution of the environment. Thus, sources like solar, hydro and wind energy will get increasing priorities.
In Singapore, our main sources of energy are still mainly from oil and natural gas. Thus, there is a lot of space for advancement in using renewable sources of energy. Currently we do not have the technology or money in practicing large scale usage of renewable sources. However, there has been ongoing research in various departments of the different sources so as to provide future platforms for applying these technologies.
For this project, the main aim would be to develop a wind map for Singapore and provide a platform from which a wind plant could be developed. This project also shows the forces and direction of the wind at the site of the proposed area which is the Changi airport terminal 2. These forces are developed using the program GAMBIT and FLUENT which can tell the user the exact dimensions of the wind. |
