Description
Summary:This report provides a review of the developments in augmented reality (AR) technology and examines its applications in novel teaching practices. This project involves designing and developing an AR app for teaching purposes which are immersive and interactive. AR has the potential to aid students with learning complex topics with the use of visualizations and gamification. AR also has the potential to help with the accessibility of learning. The report first presents an overview of AR and its potential applications in the field of education. It explores the benefits of incorporating AR into educational strategies, particularly in the enhancement of engagement, visualization, and contextual understanding. Two case studies in the literature review showcase the different applications of AR in learning environments. These case studies encompass a range of educational levels and subjects, showcasing the adaptability and effectiveness of AR in various contexts. Then, the report covers AR experience concept ideation and user interface considerations. In addition, the implementation process and the technical aspects of AR app development are explored, such as marker-based, user interface design, 3D objects, and raycasting. Lastly, the report concludes with a reflection on the use of the app and the recommendations for further work.
