Description
Summary:The purpose of this report is to introduce the design of a broadband double-ridged horn antenna of the operating frequency range of 0.8~26GHz. The report describes the whole process, which includes the design procedure, software simulation, antenna implementation and testing of the antenna. Before the detailed design procedure is introduced, the basic antenna parameters are described to give the reader a better understanding of characterizing antenna performance. Several journal papers were studied to obtain the knowledge on determination of the antenna’s dimension. Subsequently, the dimension obtained was modeled by Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS v10). Results were monitored and adjusted toward the optimized result. The simulation result was further proved by the fabrication of the antenna. Several fabrication techniques were presented to the reader. At last, the final testing of the fabricated horn antenna was conducted using VNA and also in an anechoic chamber. Recommendations for future enhancement were also included in this report.
