Summary:In the context of Industry 4.0 digitalization trends, organizations face a pressing need to adapt their project management practices to enhance performance and maintain competitiveness. The objective of this study is to enumerate critical success factors (CSFs) driving modern project management practices by extending the socio-technical systems (STS) theory. Four primary CSFs and seventeen corresponding sub-criteria were identified and ranked using pairwise comparison. A total of 20 responses from employees in corporate settings in Singapore were collected through a questionnaire survey, with data analysis conducted using the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process. The results indicate that the key competencies, in descending order of importance, are digital competencies, digital culture, interpersonal competencies, and digital leadership. The top three sub-criteria are digital literacy, digital communication, and continuous learning, emphasizing the significance of digital citizenship. This research enriches existing literature by presenting a holistic theoretical framework for modern socio-technical competencies that are crucial for organizations striving to excel in the digital era. Overall, this research paper offers valuable insights into organizational socio-technical requirements and their impact on key performance indices when implementing a proposed framework that optimizes the traditional and modern elements of a work environment for project success.
