Description
Summary:Over time, with the advancement of digital camera technology, more and more people are exploring different techniques to enhance their photography. One increasingly popular forms of photography is light painting. Light painting is the art of creating photos by setting long exposure times on a camera and by using a moving light source to paint. It relies on long exposure photography which is a technique of capturing a sense of movement by taking an image that has enough shutter time to see the movement within a frame. This art form is growing in popularity around the world with many photographers increasingly incorporating light painting in their photography. There are many light sources that could be used in light painting such as a flashlight, LED lights and even sparklers. The conventional way of light painting is troublesome and difficult to execute as it requires someone to move the light source in a particular way in order to paint the desired pattern. One wrong move could ruin the beauty of the pattern and would require the artist to paint it all over again. Therefore, this FYP project aims to develop light painting devices to produce different types of light painting patterns for photographers to use and create beautiful art forms. This project integrates use of the Raspberry Pi Pico to control DC motors that creates the motion for the LED strips which would be the light source used to create our light painting patterns. The following devices develop in this project include the “Spirogram” which creates spirogram patterns for smaller objects photography, followed by the “LED Painter – Single Motor” and the “LED Painter – Dual Motor” which both create circular patterns meant for larger scale photography such as human photography.
